FUTUROOM Opening Ceremony
The International Multimedia Training Centre FUTUROOM was opened on Sunday, 24 May 2009, by Roman Gallo, PPF’s Director of the project.
Before the ceremony was officially launched, the project was introduced in the 30 minute live broadcast of the Czech Television, providing insight into the newsroom where the “Naše adresa” magazine and Internet portal will be produced and training programmes conducted.
One of the highlights of the opening was taking individual photographs of the 150 guests on their arrival. The images were then uploaded on the “Naše adresa” magazine frontpage and the print-outs were given to the participants at the end of the programme as a gift to commemorate the event.
After his welcome address Director Roman Gallo opened the floor for the representatives of the FUTUROOM partners - ATEX’s Jerome Laredo, Google’s Tania le Moigne and O2’s Martin Žabka.
The newsroom presentation was then commenced. The traditional sections of local, international, culture, sports, etc. news were replaced with unconventional sections. The FUTUROOM’s Story Tellers section is occupied by those looking after stories. D-Miners support their work with providing research and statistic data, Watch Dogs follow the legal aspects of stories and analyse the issues. The visual section consists of iGraphics, dGraphics, Photographers and TV Studio. The Eyes section is the central body managing the entire FUTUROOM.
Each section is equipped with top of the line multimedia technology providing different forms of news reporting and the speed of posting on the website. All FUTUROOM sections were freely accessible during the opening.

Media representatives of the leading world as well as Czech media, representatives of publishers, news agencies, private enterprises, banks, journalists and members of the World Editors Forum were among the many distinguished guests of the FUTUROOM opening.

written collaboratively by volunteers from all over the world. Their goal is to

world-wide. There are more than 250 language versions of Wikipedia of various sizes.

Media is an instrument of communication, it “carries a message”,
which is to include propaganda and PR. The market economy produces and consumes

Streaming is a
technology consisting of continuous audiovisual message broadcasting between the
source and audiences. At present, streaming technology is primarily being used for

Workshop is a form of educational activity

Reportage is a piece of writing that is mostly used in journalism:
a reportage describes and depicts the reality based on particular facts, usually
gained by personal involvement of the author or via observation. Reportage authors’

the particular event but he or she also provides their clearly biased standpoint
that structures the composition. Significant aspects of a reportage include “sticking
to facts” and focusing on detail (which requires the reporter be observant). Reportages

for the content and form of all activities of the particular media outlet. The Editor-In-Chief

E-learning is an education process that utilises
information and communication technologies in order to set up courses, to distribute
curriculum materials and contents, to facilitate communication between educators
and students and to manage the studies. E-learning encompasses numerous singular
activities that can (but do not have to) be interconnected to form an integrated
system. Examples include comprehensive home-study courses and very sophisticated
instruments of collaborative learning, but it can also be a mere addition to regular
daily studies.

The multimedia department is a news desk
in a media outlet that concentrates more forms of media known to date: i.e. print
media, radio, TV, film. Hence it is possible to create and distribute visual messages
(texts, graphics, static and moving images) as well as audio messages (sounds, spoken
